Where are all these people coming from?

I just recently discovered that I can actually see where in the world the hits on my blog are coming from, so I decided to check out what kind of international fanbase I've got. For some reason it will only show me things from the last six months or so, but it's looking like people are checking in from the US, Canada, Israel, Brazil, Argentina, the UK, Japan, Latvia, Norway, Thailand, and...

...Iran.

I am so confused right now. Who could possibly be watching my blog from Iran? Did I flag their government search engines or something? I mean, I can account for some of these hits based on where I have family/friends/where people I know have traveled recently, but I have really got no idea how I pulled in hits from Norway and Latvia.

It's cool, though. :D

Everything is better with dinosaurs.

It's eleven PM. I'm logging in to the school website to email the homework that I nearly forgot to do to the TA who has not been to class in weeks. This comes up on the login page as part of the random-photo splash page:

"Wait, what's that dinosaur doing in WSP?!"
Needless to say it made me a lot happier. :)

I promise this is the last post about random stuff for today. :)

Let's talk more about Monkeys.

Cute catchphrase.

Except Curious George is so obviously a chimpanzee that it's not even funny.

No tail, pale face, hands, and feet? Light, protruding ears? Kidnapped from Africa?

Ladies and gentlemen, this is an ape. :|

Today is ape day.

This picture from Zooborns just kind of made my week. :) Apparently some dumb kid was playing video games instead of paying attention at the zoo, dropped his DS, and this happened. Gorillas that play pac man! What's next?

Things that shouldn't bother me but do:

Please learn the difference between a monkey and an orangutan.

Orangutans, Gorillas, Chimpanzees, and Bonabos are not monkeys - they're great apes. Neither are Gibbons or Siamangs - they're lesser apes. This refers to their relative body sizes, not to imply that great apes are better than lesser apes. Furthermore, Lemurs, lorises, and galagos aren't monkeys, either. They're strepsirhines. Furthermore, monkeys aren't apes! They're monkeys! I just went through this entire damn album titled "cute monkey faces," and of twelve pictures, only four are actually monkeys! The others are a lemur, two gorillas, a chimpanzee, and four orangutans!

All of them are primates, but primate is not synonymous with monkey.

People who make my day:

Apparently there's a guy named Fish who works at Starbucks who thinks it's a tragedy if he gives you the wrong drink. When I asked him about his unusual moniker, he replied, "It's native american. Short for Swimming Fish. I'm grand chief of the keep it real tribe."

I know he was joking, which just makes me more curious about the nickname, but it kind of made my day. :)

That was Halloween

We went to a Steampunk Haunted House and it was pretty awesome. Then we bought candy at Walgreens and watched Rocky Horror on DVD / I kind of watched and studied for a midterm monday morning. That movie makes no sense under the best circumstances and I'm afraid to say I've never really watched it properly - the only time I saw it on the big screen, I had a 100 degree fever and a headache. At any rate, it was pretty weird and confusing. But steampunk haunted house was amazing.

At some point, we decided I was dressed as the bastard lovechild of Lady Gaga and Marvin the martian.

(We stopped for pizza somewhere on the border of Chinatown and Sketchville.)

Don't you think I rocked the pink wig? :)
