Unclear on concept?

So I got home from class to be surprised by an email from my professor congratulating me on my "excellent performance on the midterm." Having been previously unaware that the grades were posted, I raced onto the blackboard site to see what I got - I was convinced I hadn't done as well as I was hoping, there were some terms that were completely alien to me and due to outside circumstances I'd only made it through half the material I meant to while studying.

So I got a 90%. Considering the class average was something like a 78% and the median was an 80%, this is pretty good. It's also an A. (He curves it, so anything in the 90-100 range is an A, with 86 to 89.9 being an A-.)

However, I was pulling a 92 average before. So despite my "excellent performance on the midterm," my grade actually went down, from a 92 to a 91.25.

Huh.

I wanted to ask you,

Have you ever had one of those days

Where you're tired, and you haven't really managed to accomplish anything

And you have so much to do

That you don't know where to begin?

And when you get online

The only people who talk to you

Just don't have the time for

Or just don't want to talk to

At all?

I even typed the question up

All nice

And grammatically correct.

But I didn't hit send

Because I figured you'd probably say,

"I'm having one right now."

And no one wants to know

That their hunch was right

That no one wants to talk to.

Like really this song is so irrelevant to anything ever.

Something about dinosaurs.

For a movie that was made ten years ago, this certainly looks just as nice as anything you might find today. (It helps that they used CG dinosaurs on a live-action background, so this opening scene is basically just a special effects reel.) Also, no flow in CGI... so considering that basically they cheated their way past technical limitations, it looks pretty good. The other thing I'd like to point out is that Dinosaur has a pretty great score, even if no one remembers what it was about, or that it existed.

Let's just not talk about the rest of the movie and its Land Before Time ripoff plot.

I do seem to recall seeing this in theaters as a kid and thinking it was pretty cool. But then again, I also thought Rocketman was a good movie as a kid. So, yeah.

Then again, James Cameron does manage to make this look like child's play... (I think this is actually a fan made trailer.)

Finally doing the before and after thing.

Remember when I was on accutane? Yeah, neither do I, it was kind of a long time ago. But anyway, I finally decided to get off my ass and do some before-and-after pictures. I've been off it about three months at this point, which is when you can really start to get an idea of what your skin's going to look like, so how about it! Let's see what I found on my hard disk from last January...

"Ew! Kill it with fire!"

"Much nicer! Wait, you mean that's the same person?!"

This, of course, coming on the tail of me being informed that they've just pulled accutane off the market again. Yes, it's a nasty drug. Yes, it has nasty side effects and people have experienced depression, psychosis, and liver damage. I still have some residual dryness on my face - but je ne regrette de rien. If I had to do it all over, the month of dryness and bleeding lips and itchy eyes, you bet I would. Accutane's a bitch while you're on it, but since I've done it, my quality of life has greatly improved.

For me, it was a miracle drug, and my only wish is that I hadn't waited as long to start on it.

For anyone curious of my dosages:

I did one month at 30 mg/day, one month at 40 mg/day, one month at 60 mg/day, and two months at 80 mg/day.

And while I tagged it as the 'tane diaries and called it accutane, I was actually taking Claravis, which is just another brand's name for Isotretinoin (aka, accutane!) Sort of how Advil and Motrin are just different brand names for Ibuprofen. They do the exact same thing.
